Chain of Custody

Weaver-SecurShred understands your need to protect and destroy your confidential information (regardless of the media on which it is contained). The concept of the Chain of Custody means that Weaver-SecurShred has set processes and procedures in place that assures the security and confidentiality of your information from the time we take possession of it until it is shipped to the recycle plant.

Deployment

Based on a schedule customized to your needs, a secure, locked Weaver-SecurShred truck will be dispatched to your location for collecting your materials.

Pickup

Your confidential materials, contained in locked collection containers (provided free of charge by Weaver-SecurShred) are picked up by uniformed, trained and insured drivers who transport the material in a locked truck to the secure Weaver-SecurShred shredding facility.

Weighing & Staging

Upon arrival at the shredding facility the containers (still locked and unopened) are weighed and staged with other confidential materials. In preparation for shredding, your materials are commingled with other confidential materials and contaminates removed (e.g., Binders, metal items, etc). This step is an added security measure assuring that once the commingled material is shredded, it cannot be reconstructed.

Destruction

The commingled material is shredded to 5/16” strips meeting IRS standards. Weaver-SecurShred selected this shred size to assure better security for your materials. The industry standard shred size is 5/8”. The shredded materials immediately convey to a baler and are baled in 1,100 pound bales. In the case of non-paper media, your material is destroyed and disposed of (recycled if possible) using the appropriate means for the media.

Final Disposal

Baled material remains within the Weaver-SecurShred facility until picked up by the recycling company. Your materials are not stored outdoors. All recycling companies receiving materials from Weaver-SecurShred are required to sign confidentiality agreements—one more step to assure your materials remain secure and confidential. The Chain of Custody is complete and the loop of destruction closed. The process used in the Chain of Custody assures that once your material is in the possession of Weaver-SecurShred it is secure and virtually impossible to reconstruct once it has been shredded.
